Today has been one of reviewing my previous knowledge of Manaiakalani and google drive building on this knowledge. My understanding of the origins of Maniakalani's Learn, Create and Share model I found insightful, the time line was interesting as to where and why it was started. I am now benefitting from all the hard mahi and collaberation between whanau, outside agencies, teachers and students.
Like many during the lockdown I was forced to become competent with google chats, setting up learning to be accessible by our students and whanau via the class website as well as how to use screencastify as a tutorial tool for students and whanau. Thanks to the tutors and others on the course who are more familiar with blogging I have a picture and background on my blog.
My personal professional blog has been the biggest learning curve for me as I am working towards my students having their own blogs so its a bit of a no brainer to have this under my belt before embarking on this new journey with my students. So this will be a continued work in progress for me. I've inserted one of the tasks, a poster for persuasive writing ideas
I will be sharing the explore option with my learners, always wondered what that little icon on the bottom of right of the screen was for so now I know and it will part of my everyday use. I am interested in using the speech to write app with my readers to record their reading fluency, especially with my at risk and reluctant readers so we will see how this goes.
Kia ora Sonya,
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing your thoughts and reflections on your first DFI day. It is great to read about the collaboration that is happening between yourself and others on the course to help each other extend the learning. Isn't that what we want our students to be experiencing?
I love Explore! It makes searching for things so easy and I know your students will enjoy it too.
I'm glad that you are already finding it useful and I look forward to reading more of your journey over the next 9 weeks.
:) Sharon
Hi Sonya
ReplyDeleteI agree that we are centianly benefitting from mahi of a number of people, I like you are embarking on a professional blog for the first time and find the whole thing a little daunting! It is good to be in a room of colleagues all in the same boat!
It's great to see a familiar face and have a bit of a catch up. Yes there is certainly that ....ït's not just me feeling with others in the group all at different stages. My next step is to comment on others blogs as its not just all about ME!
